Blog

I am a junior studying Economics at The Pennsylvania State University. I believing economic helps people getting a better life because the way our society structure initially has changed and the government needs a profession to keep people in profit. But after learning economics, I realize it is just a game for the rich people and corrupt governor. From a point of view for someone learning economic, if your inception is to help people, this is not the study for you at your best utility.
I believe that your wealth is not the way to distinguish your success, your contribution to the world is the most important. Been rich is great but that is not so well if the wealth comes from hearing someone else.

Cheating in Athletes
Using PEDs in Olympic is a very serious problem because it always happened every year for that some athletes are still using PEDs. They have trained their whole life for the moment on the stage to beat the world record or to win a gold medal. Many of them achieve their dream, but some can not, and therefore they choose to use PEDs. Once an athlete uses the PEDs for better performance in a competition, he or she is considering cheating immediately. Cheating in professional sport is just like plagiarism in academics. The result, in the end, is not the true and fair competition. Each athlete should compete at the same level with each other. It is possible that other competitors are better than others, but if they win the title clean, no one would argue or doubt about it.  The competition needs to be clean in order to truly distinguish the better athlete and winner. Even though PEDs and other performance booster contribute to immoral practice, but many people still think they should be legalized in Olympic.
Health Issues
PEDs also harmful to health. According to Professor in the Departments of Economics, Sociology, and the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, "performance enhancers, like steroids and other forms of doping, have a negative effect on long-term health. For the users of these enhancers are hurting themselves in the long run without on the average improving their short-term rewards from athletic competition, as long as competitors also use harmful enhancers. This is the main rationale for trying to ban steroids and other forms of doping from athletic competitions."(n.d.) If the athletes keep using the drugs disregard the influence, the result can be irreversible. Drugs such as testosterone and steroid contribute a high risk of getting cardiovascular disease. According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, “Steroid abuse has been associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVD), including heart attacks and strokes, even in athletes younger than 30 years old. Steroids contribute to the development of CVD, partly by changing the levels of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol in the blood.”(n.d.) With the PEDs, stroke and heart attack can be lethal to the athletes because the drug will disrupt the proper blood flow and make much more pressure in the arteries. All the drugs had the side effect. It did not matter the user do them in the right way or not. On the internet, there is news every day talking about the abuse of drug and those lead to death. It is not the matter of limit, whatever amount they use, the side effect will always be harmful.
